Privacy Policy
1. What we collect
When you interact with Offline Helper, we collect:
| What | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | Fit check, support request, or purchase | To contact you about your session and to send receipts |
| Name (optional) | If you give it to us | So we can greet you properly |
| Fit-check answers | When you submit the fit-check form | To decide whether we are the right fit for you |
| Payment confirmation | At checkout | To fulfill the order. Card numbers go to Stripe, not to us |
| Device specs (model, OS version) | During the install session | To install the right AI software for your machine |
| Support emails | When you email us | To help you |
2. What we never see
This is the part that matters most and is easiest to gloss over, so it gets its own section.
The AI assistant we install runs locally on your computer. We do not have remote access to it after the install session ends. Specifically:
- We do not see the questions you ask the AI.
- We do not see the AI's answers to you.
- We do not collect your chat history.
- We do not collect any documents, files, or notes you create with the AI.
- We do not install keyloggers, telemetry, analytics, or any "phone home" software in the AI.
The entire point of the service is that the AI is private to you. If you ever feel we have crossed that line, contact us immediately and we will address it. If we ever discover a real breach, we will notify you within 72 hours.
3. How we use what we collect
We use the data listed in section 1 to:
- Deliver the service you paid for (schedule your session, run the install, follow up).
- Send transactional emails: confirmations, receipts, and service announcements (e.g., "the install session moved by 30 minutes").
- Improve our fit-check and onboarding questions over time, using aggregate (not individual) data.
- Comply with US tax and business law (e.g., we keep payment records for 7 years, as required by the IRS).
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not use your data to train any AI model. We do not sell or "rent" your data to anyone, ever.
4. Who we share it with
We share your data only with the vendors we use to run the business, and only the minimum they need to do their job:
| Vendor | What they get | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Payment info at checkout, basic profile | To process your payment. See Stripe's privacy policy. |
| Cloudflare | Site traffic logs, KV queue data | To run the website and the payment fulfillment queue. Logs auto-delete after 30 days. |
| Google Workspace (Gmail) | Your email correspondence with us | To reply to you. Google's privacy policy applies to their handling. |
We will also share data if a US court orders us to, but we will challenge overly broad requests and notify you if legally permitted.
5. Cookies and analytics
The Offline Helper website uses only strictly necessary cookies and local storage (for things like "you have already seen the fit-check form"). We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any third-party advertising trackers.
If we add analytics in the future, we will update this policy and ask for consent where required.
6. Your rights under US state privacy laws
Several US states give you specific rights over your personal data. If you live in California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Delaware, Iowa, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Tennessee, Minnesota, Maryland, Indiana, Kentucky, Rhode Island, or another state with a comprehensive privacy law, you have the right to:
- Know what personal data we have about you.
- Delete it, with the exceptions noted in section 7.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Port your data in a machine-readable format.
- Opt out of sale or sharing — we don't sell or share, so this is automatic.
- Non-discrimination for exercising your rights.
To exercise any of these rights, email pdbjork@gmail.com from the address you have on file with us (so we can verify it's you). We will respond within 45 days. We will not charge you for a reasonable number of requests per year.
California "Shine the Light" (Civil Code § 1798.83): we do not share your data with third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
7. How long we keep it
| Category | How long | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Payment records (receipts, Stripe transaction IDs) | 7 years | US tax law (IRS) |
| Support emails | 3 years after last contact | Reasonable lookback for any follow-up issues |
| Fit-check answers (if you did not buy) | 12 months | Follow-up unless you ask us to delete sooner |
| Subscription status | For the life of the subscription + 2 years | Handle renewals, refunds, and disputes |
| Marketing list (if you opted in) | Until you unsubscribe | One-click unsubscribe in every email |
When the retention period ends, we delete the data within 30 days. If you ask us to delete your data sooner, we will — except for the records we're legally required to keep (e.g., tax records), which we will isolate from anything that can be used to contact you.
8. How we protect it
We use industry-standard safeguards: TLS for all data in transit, encrypted storage at rest, and access limited to the founder (Pete) plus a single, password-managed Cloudflare account. We do not store your card data — Stripe does, and they are PCI-DSS Level 1 certified.
No system is 100% secure. If we ever discover a breach affecting your data, we will notify you within 72 hours by email and post a notice on this page.
9. Children's privacy
Offline Helper is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If we learn we have, we will delete it within 30 days. If you believe a child has submitted data through our fit check, email us.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a material way, we will update the "Effective" date at the top, post a notice on the homepage, and email active subscribers. Non-material changes (typos, clarifications) will be made silently.
11. Contact and data protection contact
Offline Helpers, LLC is the data controller for any personal data described in this policy.
You can reach us at:
