Odysseus self-hosted AI workspace setup

A private AI workspace, not another confusing app.

Odysseus is a free, open-source, self-hosted AI workspace for chat, agents, research, documents, notes, email, calendar, and local model workflows. Offline Helper installs and explains it for real households and small organizations.

What we install

Odysseus, Docker where appropriate, Ollama/local model support, authentication, backups, and a simple launch routine.

What we protect

No public exposure of the workspace or raw model ports, no hidden telemetry promises we cannot verify, and clear boundaries for internet-connected features.

What we teach

How to use it for memoirs, letters, research, organizing notes, planning, learning, and caregiver-supported workflows.

Good fit / not a good fit

Good fit

  • Mac, Windows PC, or small home server
  • Someone wants private AI but needs hand-holding
  • Family/caregiver wants clear admin boundaries

Not a good fit

  • Very old computers with little RAM/storage
  • Expectation that everything is 100% offline
  • Need for medical, legal, or financial advice without professionals

Fit check first

We verify hardware, comfort level, privacy concerns, and whether local models or cloud APIs are appropriate before payment.

Guardian-Builder default: the technology is in service of the person using it. Consent, legality, privacy, and non-harm come first.
